    Sponsoring Girls’ Education

The literacy rate of Nepal is one of the lowest in the world. Even in the SAARC region, we do not have a better literacy status. The literacy status of women and girls are too poor.

A great challenge to the nation is to eliminate the massive poverty in the country and provide basic needs to the people. Keeping in view these challenges, efforts are under way to improve the quality of life of Nepalese people. But until and unless we improve the health, educational and social status of women, particularly of the adolescents and young girls we cannot bring changes in the quality of life of the people of Nepal. So, Vfdnepal initiates and support to student to student program (SSP)

Till today, more than fifty girl students are supported but Vfdnepal wants to continue and support more under-privileged and poor girls for their schooling. Vfdnepal is determined to allocate US $50 from the basic fee of volunteering from each volunteer and support to SSP.

This program intends to raise the feeling of cooperation and self-help among young students throughout the world and let them take over the responsibilities of world’s development in the future.

Improving Livelihood and Status of Disadvantaged Children

Recently, Vfdnepal has completed a field-research to explore the situation of children under 15 years of age in 11 dalit (untouchable castes) communities of five village development committees (VDCs) in a terai district of central Nepal. The survey covered a population of 4229, out of which 2140 were male, 2089 were female and children under 15 years of age were 1461, which was 35 percent of the surveyed population. The survey further indicated that the children under 15 years of age were in a very miserable condition - 98 percent are illiterate, > 20 percent had already got married, 98 percent were engaged in physical labor, child marriage and early pergnancy are high.

Instead of going to school, most of the children in rural communities and urban slums are forced to live in an unhygienic condition.

volunteering with vfdn, let us help them to go to school and improve their livelihood and living conditions ....................

Your little support helps them to make GREAT differences in their lives:

    1. $1 can purchase stationery for a child for 1 month
    2. $5 can pay for lunch for a child for 1 month
    3. $50 can bear the WHOLE cost of schooling for a child for 1 year
    4. $500 can help to build a HOUSE for a family
    5. $1,000 can help the WHOLE COMMUNITY to improve the systems of drinking water supply, sanitation and drainage…………
