What does the fee cover?
The program fee is comprehensive covering all your in-country needs. This ensures that the local communities we work with are not financially burdened by our volunteers.
The fee covers:
- Volunteer placement with one of our Partner Programs including all the coordination, in-person visits and communication necessary with each local organization.
- In-country Cultural and Learning Activities including excursions to nearby points of interest, special events and discussions with a variety of local cultural, professional, governmental and community agencies.
- VFDN home-based structure provides you with a comfortable, safe place to live and work with at least three meals a day.
- In-country basic language and cultural orientation and assistance
- Professional, locally-based staff to provide orientation, supervision and guidance throughout your stay.
- Important documents including volunteer orientation information, basic language guide book and in-country information materials.
- Transportation to and from the airport, to and from cultural and learning activities and to and from your volunteer work placement within Kathmandu Valley.
- 24/7 emergency assistance and onsite support
- Local phone calls, emails, internet and Wi-Fi at VFDN office premises
- Administration and management
- $50 for Promoting Girls' Schooling Program
- $50 for supporting "Shelter of Victims"
- $50 for VFDN's future initiatives
What does the fee do not cover?
- Costs associated with obtaining a visa, travel/medical insurance and immunizations (when needed)
- International and domestic airfare
- Laundry services
- Personal expenses
